In the past, bamboo provided for all needs (construction material, tools, food, etc.). It has since been called the « blessing from heaven ». Today, this flexible and humble plant, whose strength lies in its grace, is a symbol of modesty , mental strength and longevity. Its extended roots represent stability. This unusual herb also symbolizes wealth and great resistance.
Bamboo occupies a large place in Asian life. Let's zoom in on its use: :
At the ornamental level, bamboo is widely used and appears more and more in our regions;
At the cultural level, bamboo is used for calligraphy or sculpture;
At the daily level, it is found in various objects such as dishes, steaming boxes, rice cooking baskets, fish traps, kitchen utensils, paper products...
At the industrial level, it is present in the construction of scaffolding, building materials, the manufacture of parquet, the manufacture of furniture, the construction of housing, roofing, bridges or the fortification of various materials;
At the food level, young bamboo shoots are used because they contain amino acids and vitamins;
At the medicinal level, bamboo relieves rheumatism, asthma, back pain, etc.;
At the musical level, many musical instruments are made from this plant
Beyond these uses, bamboo is also used for relaxation. It can indeed provide us with a parenthesis of well-being thanks to its many benefits: deep relaxation of the muscles, stimulation of blood circulation, elimination of toxins, drainage,... Enough to derive great benefit from it. For this, we use rods of different diameters as massage rollers and essential oils. A whole technique using rods that would promote the transmission of energy.
Bamboo being so ingrained in the daily life of the Chinese, it has generated many expressions. Here are some of them taken from the plant:
« xiōngyǒuchéngzhú » which translates to “When you paint bamboo, you must have an image of bamboo in your heart”. The symbolic meaning of this phrase is “Have a well thought out plan”.
« pòzhúzhīshì » which means "strength sufficient to break the bamboo". Symbolically: Irresistible force.
« qīngméi-zhúmǎ » literally translated as “Green plums and bamboo horses”? Symbolically, this expression illustrates the innocence of a child's play, or even a couple who grew up as childhood friends.
« zhúlándǎshuǐ » which means "Use a bamboo basket to draw water". Which symbolically means wasted effort.
